What role in the community do you think convenience stores should play?

Convenience stores should be there for the community when they need them, which is why NACS Foundation’s 24/7 Day is so important. Typically, convenience stores are often the only retailers who remain open when disaster strikes, and it’s imperative that we continue to serve our communities and first responders in their most critical times of need. We are here when you need us!

What does NACS political engagement mean to you, and what benefits have you experienced from being politically engaged?

It’s important to be in touch with our political leaders to keep them informed about the reality of our business. Our industry faces a number of diverse issues including taxes and payments, so we need to have allies in Washington, D.C., to fight the good fight on our behalf. NACS is our voice on Capitol Hill, and Day on the Hill is a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference!

What federal legislative or regulatory issues keep you up at night?

Recent tobacco and vape uncertainty, along with a proposed federal menthol and various flavor bans keep me up at night. Tobacco products are among the most regulated products that we sell, and the fact that our industry is being targeted is unfair and unnecessary.

What c-store product could you not live without?

Water, of course!
