C-Store Hourly Wages Rise Over 10%

March 2022   minute read

It comes as no surprise that the past year has been difficult for human resource professionals in the convenience industry. Amid uncertainty induced by the global pandemic, HR leaders were tasked with ensuring stores were staffed and keeping employees safe. This was a tall order, and many convenience retailers across the U.S. employed a variety of strategies, including increased pay. NACS benchmarking data from 2021 show that during the past year, wages for a full-time hourly associate increased from $11.89 in 2020 to $13.14 in 2021—an increase of 10.5%. Part-time associate wages also increased, from $11.09 to $12.45 an hour, an increase of 12.3%.
