The positive impact U.S. convenience stores have in providing jobs, growing the local economy and supporting community initiatives has never been more evident. According to the most recent numbers, the U.S. convenience store industry had record in-store sales of $242 billion in 2018. Total industry sales reached $654 billion (when combined with motor fuels sales), representing 3.1% of the $20.5 trillion U.S. gross domestic product and providing a total of 2.36 million jobs across the country. Convenience stores create economic stability and growth.
